FAQ: Stationary Diesel Generators
Stationary diesel generators are designed for long-term continuous operation and heavy loads. They feature liquid cooling to prevent overheating and low-speed engines (1500 RPM), which provide significantly higher durability and better fuel efficiency compared to portable air-cooled units.
An ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) is a system that automatically starts the generator when a power outage occurs and switches the load to it. For EKVIVES stationary plants, an ATS is essential as it ensures energy independence without the need for manual intervention by staff.
The open-frame type is suitable for installation inside specially equipped indoor machine rooms with proper ventilation. Canopy-protected generators are designed for outdoor installation; the enclosure protects against rain and dust while significantly reducing noise levels, making them ideal for residential and office areas.
The standard maintenance interval for stationary diesel plants is every 250–500 operating hours, or at least once a year. Regular oil and filter changes, along with coolant checks, ensure that the generator will start reliably in a critical moment.
